Metallography equipment suppliers stock colorless acrylic aerosol spray cans for this purpose. All you need to do is to spray a thin layer on the prepared surface and wait till it dries up ( these spray compounds are fast drying). Here in the US, hardware stores also stock these cans. You can also store the samples in desicccators thereby eliminating the need for spraying the surface.
